You can improve the user experience when users view information about objects by creating rules that specify the visibility and behavior of fields, such as determining when they are shown, hidden, made mandatory, or set to read-only.
Accessing the screen builder
- Click an object, such as Software.
- Click a record.
- Click the Actions menu .
- Click Screen Builder .
Creating visibility rules for the asset tag
When you add more than two roles, you can specify whether the conditions set for all of the rules apply by selecting And, or you can specify whether any one of the rules apply by selecting Or.
In this scenario, visibility rules are created for the asset tag field.
Opening the screen builder page for an asset record
- Click Hardware > All Assets.
- Click a record.
- Click the Actions menu .
- Click Screen Builder .
Adding the rules
- From the dropdown list for the asset tag field, select Set custom visibility rules.
- In this scenario, you select Hidden as the initial state for the asset tag. You can choose one of the following:
- Default. When the rule or rules are applied, the initial state of the field will not change.
- Read-only. When the rule or rules are applied, the field will be read-only.
- Hidden. When the rule or rules are applied, the field will be hidden.
- Mandatory. When the rules are applied, the field will be mandatory.
- Click + Add state.
- In this scenario, you don't change the default value of And because all of the rules are to be applied.
- Click Add Rule Criteria.
- Select Status from the field list and set it to is Empty.
- Click Add Rule Criteria.
- Select Serial Number from the field list and set it to is Empty.
- Save your changes.
