The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) deadline is approaching fast, and this email details how Oomnitza will achieve compliance. Oomnitza has been working hard to ensure that the necessary controls and features are in place so that you can continue to use our service with confidence, once the GDPR comes into effect.
What is GDPR?
The GDPR replaces the previous EU Data Protection Directive and is intended to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within Europe. The GDPR will greatly impact how companies such as Oomnitza process and transfer personal data out of Europe.
When does the GDPR go into effect?
GDPR will become enforceable on May 25, 2018. This means that all compliance efforts must be in place by this deadline.
Oomnitza has anonymized the underlying relationships that associate things to users, and has introduced a process for a user to exercise their right to be forgotten. Now when a user formally requests to be forgotten, Oomnitza will securely purge all personally identifiable information. When viewing the assigned devices after removal, you will see "Deleted User".
What Action Steps Are Required?
There are no action steps required by the end users of Oomnitza. If you have any questions regarding GDPR or how Oomnitza is achieving compliance, please contact the support team:firstname.lastname@example.org.
