Microsoft Intune: Basic and Extended Connector Integrations

You can create two types of integrations for Microsoft Intune:

Basic connector integration

Let Oomnitza be your single source of truth!

You'll get visibility of all your computer and software assets as data from Microsoft Intune is automatically transformed into consumable information and actionable insights.

Before you start

To integrate Intune with Oomnitza, use your Microsoft administration account.

Integrate Intune with Oomnitza

Log into your Oomnitza instance, and complete these steps:

  1. From the menu, click Settings.
  2. In the Asset Integrations section, click the Microsoft Intune tile, and then click Next.
  3. Click Sign in with Microsoft.
  4. Enter your credentials.
  5. On the Permissions requested page, complete these actions:
    1. Click Consent on behalf of your organization.
    2. Click Accept.
  6. Click Next.

Software data retrieval and scheduling

In the Add Software Details section, select Software if you want to retrieve the software data for your assets. The name and the version of the software is retrieved.

In the Sync session frequency section, you can configure the schedule to meet your needs such as changing the interval or changing the time so that the data is streamed when your system isn't busy.

By default, Intune asset data is streamed to Oomnitza once every day. Software data retrieval is set to off unless you selected Software in the Add Software Details section.

  1. Specify the Sync Session frequency, which determines how often the Intune information is streamed to Oomnitza.
  2. Click Next.

Map

To get the information that you need to manage your assets, complete these actions:

  1. On the Mappings page, map the Intune fields to the Oomnitza fields. 
  2. In the Oomnitza fields column, select one or more fields to synchronize the data that is streamed to Oomnitza.
  3. Click FINISH.

What to do next

If you want to see what information is collected now, click the tile on the Integrations page and click RUN.

If you want to change the integration settings, you can click a navigation link on the Integrations page, such as 4 Mappings, and edit the settings.

Tip
To view the information that is collected about assets, click Assets. To view the information collected about software, click the asset in the list on the Assets page, and then click the Software tab.

Monitor Intune integration

To monitor the loading of information into Oomnitza, click Sync Sessions. You can check:

  • The status of the data collection
  • The number of new records that were added
  • The number of records that were updated
  • The number of records that were skipped
  • The number of errors that were generated

To create the integration, you need your Microsoft Identity Management Subscription ID.

Before you start

To stream Intune data into Oomnitza, you must add OAuth 2.0 credentials to the credentials vault in Oomnitza. To do this, you create OAuth 2.0 credentials. Then, you add the OAuth 2.0 credentials that you created to the Oomnitza vault.

When you add the OAuth 2.0 credentials to the Oomnitza vault, you can choose to add them:

  • As Microsoft Intune credentials
  • As Microsoft (Azure) credentials

When you create your OAuth 2.0 credentials, the scope for Intune devices is:

DeviceManagementManagedDevices.Read.All

or

https://graph.microsoft.com/DeviceManagementManagedDevices.Read.All

If a Redirect URI is requested when you create your credentials, use this address:

https://generic-oauth2-proxy.oomnitza.com/oauth2/redirect_url 

To add your Microsoft Intune credentials to the Oomnitza vault, you need this information:

  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
  • Tenant ID

To add your Microsoft credentials to the Oomnitza vault, you need this information:

  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
  • Tenant ID
  • Scope

Add credentials to the vault in Oomnitza

To authorize connections between Oomnitza and Intune, you must add the 0Auth 2.0 credentials that you created for Intune to the credentials vault in Oomnitza.

  1. Log into Oomnitza.
  2. Click Settings > Credentials, and then click Add new credential (+).
  3. On the INFORMATION tab, complete these actions:
    1. Add the name of the credential such as Intune for Devices.
    2. Add the name of the owner. 
  4. On the AUTHORIZATION tab, select OAuth 2.0 as the authorization type.
  5. From the SaaS list, select either Microsoft Intune or Microsoft
  6. Enter your client ID, client secret, and tenant ID.
  7. If you selected Microsoft, you must enter a value for scope. 
  8. Click Authenticate. You are prompted to log into Microsoft 365 to authorize your request.
  9. Click CREATE. 

Next step

You use the credentials that you added to create and customize your Intune integration with Oomnitza.

Integrate Intune with Oomnitza

Info and connect details

  1. Click Settings.
  2. On the Integrations page, scroll down to the Extended section for Assets.
  3. Click NEW INTEGRATION.
  4. In the New Asset Integration sidebar, click Microsoft Intune.
  5. To integrate Oomnitza with the Microsoft Intune Asset Load, click APPLY and then click NEXT twice.

On the Connect page, complete these steps:

  1. Enter a descriptive name for the integration such as Intune for Assets. That'll be the name of the integration tile that is shown on the Integrations page.
  2. Select Cloud as the installation type.
  3. From the Credentials list, select the credentials from the Oomnitza vault that you added for the Intune connection.
  4. Enter the name of the user of the integration. 
  5. Click Next.

Mappings

Map the Intune fields to the Oomnitza fields and create custom mappings to get the information that you need to manage your desktop assets.

  1. Click SMART MAPPING to automatically map Intune to Oomnitza fields. If a field isn't automatically mapped, you can complete these steps:
    1. Click the down arrow on the Intune field that you want to map.
    2. Select Add new Oomnitza assets field.
    3. In the Field information dialog, enter the name and attributes of the field.
    4. Click CREATE.
  2. Before you can proceed, you must select at least one Sync key such as Serial Number.
  3. When you've completed mapping Intune fields to Oomnitza fields, click NEXT.

Schedule

By default, Intune data is streamed to Oomnitza once every day.

You can configure the schedule to meet your needs such as changing the interval or changing the time so that the data is streamed when your system isn't busy.

  1. Configure your schedule.
  2. Click FINISH.

Result

A new tile is created for the integration on the Integrations page. 

What to do next

If you want to see what information is collected now, click the tile on the Integrations page and click RUN.
