Upload multiple desktop and SaaS software records.
Before you start
The following types of files are supported for uploading software records:
- CSV (comma-separated values) files
- Google sheet files
- XLS files
- XLSX files
SaaS software records
You must create a file with the information that you want to upload.
To import SaaS software records, you add headers. You must add the Software Name header and values. You must add the Application Category header, but adding values is not mandatory. If you don't specify a value for the category, you can add a value after you import the record.

Desktop software records
To import Desktop software records, you add headers. You must add the Software Name header and values. You must add the Software Category header, but adding values is not mandatory. If you don't specify a category value, you can add a value after you import the record.

You can also add other headers and values to the files that you use to upload software records such as Publisher and Website.
Tip
If the field is not visible on the mapping page you need to add it to the record display using the Screen Builder. Once added, the field should then appear on the mapping page. Refer to the Screen Builder documentation for more information.
Procedure
- From the menu, click Software or Desktop.
- Click Import.
- Upload the file with the software records.
- Select Update and Create.
- Select Continue.
- Click Smart Mapping.
- Select Software Name as the sync key.
- Click Validate. Ignore the warning messages.
- Click Import.
Next
Open the software record and add additional information such as users and contracts.
