To align with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)—both of which provide individuals with the right to request the removal of their personal data—and to adhere to individual organizational policies on data retention, administrators are provided with the capability to anonymize personal data in Oomnitza.
Personal data is any information that can identify an individual either directly or indirectly, such as a name or an email address. The process of anonymizing or removing user data is pivotal in maintaining data privacy and is a fundamental step in ensuring strict adherence to data protection regulations and internal data management policies.
User anonymization in Oomnitza is a process designed to make user data unidentifiable. When a user is anonymized, all references to the user within the system are anonymized and replaced with "archived_user".
This anonymization is extensive, covering historical data associated with the user and any data displayed on the Activities page.
Additionally, log files containing user details are also subjected to anonymization.
Note
This process is irreversible and should only be used to comply with data protection regulations or internal data retention policies and procedures.
