This workflow block allows you to pull in full, properly formatted Apple device model names based on the asset's serial number. This can be useful when the connector is pulling in model identifier (e.g. MacbookPro 11,4) instead of a full Model Name (e.g. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015))
Setting up the Workflow
Apple model workflows should be relatively straightforward, and are intended exclusively for retrieving model names and/or converting them into a more friendly format.
The Begin Block
Ideally, the begin block should trigger once upon new creation of Apple Devices that have a serial number. Apple provides a resource to identify model based on the last 3 to 4 digits of a device's serial number, so this workflow should only run for Apple devices, otherwise the block may return incorrect results.
At times, this workflow may need to be used for existing assets. When that is the case, please make sure it only runs once for each desired asset, either by using a scheduled workflow with a thorough begin block, or by running the workflow manually.
The Apple Model Block
For the Apple Model Block itself, all that needs to be done is identify the Serial Number and Model fields in Oomnitza:
With those blocks in place, simply connect the blocks as seen above and allow the workflow to run.
