To make it easier to keep your records up-to-date, you can make changes to multiple records.
Before you start
You must be granted permissions to bulk edit records.
Configuring bulk edit permissions
About this task
When you open the list view of records, 100 records are loaded and available for editing. To select more records, you can scroll down and click the record selector and the records that are currently loaded are selected and available for editing. Alternatively, select two or more records, click Bulk Edit
, and you are provided with the option to edit the records you selected or edit the number of records that you are permitted to edit. The default is 2,000 records.
Tip
To find out how many records you are allowed to edit simultaneously, hover over the Bulk Edit icon .
Procedure
- Open an object, such as assets, in list view

Tip
You can add a filter to select the records that you want to edit. - Choose one of the following options:
- Select the records that you want to edit. Click Bulk Edit
.
- To select the records that are currently loaded, click the record selector
. You can scroll down and select more records manually. Click Bulk Edit
.
- Select the records that you want to edit. Click Bulk Edit
- Click Next.
- Add the fields that you want to edit .
- Optional. If you have permission to bulk edit read-only fields, you must click Show all fields
to select the fields from the dropdown list.
- Optional. You can add more fields or remove fields:
- Click Add
to add more fields.
- Select one or more fields and click Remove
.
- Click Add
- Select the values. For some fields, if you don't specify a value, the value will be cleared from the records.
- Click Next. If you don't want a workflow to be triggered when the records are updated, click Trigger workflows
to disable.
- Click Save.
- Click Yes to confirm your changes.
Result
The records are updated. If errors are generated, click Copy error log to troubleshoot.
