When you add a basic or an extended integration for assets or users, you must select at least one sync key.
About selecting sync keys
Only fields with unique values, such as a serial number or an email, should be selected. Avoid using fields with empty or duplicate values to prevent errors in Oomnitza.
Assigning multiple sync keys to a single field
Assign multiple Oomnitza sync key fields to a single field to ensure that you find all the records that need to be updated in Oomnitza.
Let's say you mapped the serial number to two Oomnitza fields: serial number and barcode. You can use the serial number field as the primary sync key for updating records to Oomnitza. You can use the barcode field as the secondary sync key field, and update those asset records that don't have the serial number.
By default, the primary sync key field values are updated in asset or user records in Oomnitza. The secondary sync key fields are used to find records but they aren't updated in asset or user records. To change this behaviour, click update sync key .
Procedure
To assign multiple sync keys to a single field, complete these steps:
- From the Configuration menu, click Integrations.
- Click Block view
- Click an integration tile.
- Expand the Mapping section.
- Select the dropdown next to the source field, and select multiple target fields from the list. If the field you need is not available, you can select +Add new Oomnitza field. Make sure that you select the Unique checkbox when creating the field, otherwise it cannot be used as a sync key.
- Select the primary sync key field first, then the secondary sync key field, and so on. You can change the priority at any point by clicking the Sync key text next to the target field.
- Click
to switch to adding and updating the sync key field values in Oomnitza or click
to disable.
- Click FINISH.
Assign sync keys to multiple fields
Assign sync keys to multiple fields to ensure that each record synced with Oomnitza is correctly identified and targeted.
For example, if you map the email and username to Oomnitza fields and set them as sync keys, this ensures that each record that is synced contains both unique values.
Procedure
To create multiple sync keys, complete these steps:
- From the Configuration menu, click Integrations.
- Click Block view
- Click an integration tile.
- Expand the Mapping section.
- To map source fields to the target field in Oomnitza, either click and drag the source fields to the target field or select the target field from the integration field dropdown. If the needed target field isn't available, you can create a custom field:
- Click the down arrow next to the source field
- Select +Add new Oomnitza field.
- Enter the field name and then select the Unique checkbox.
- Once the mapping is complete, you'll have the option to create sync keys. Note that this option is only available for fields marked as unique.
- Select the primary sync key field first, then the secondary sync key field, and so on. You can change the priority at any point by clicking the Sync key text next to the target field.
- Click FINISH.
