To provide users with the information that they need to complete their tasks, you can configure the object view for each user role.
The benefits are as follows:
- The usability experience is enhanced because employees see only the information that they need to see and in the order that they need to see it.
- The security of the product is enhanced because you can specify for each role the fields that are read-only and you can also hide fields that users with a specific user role don't need to see.
Accessing the screen builder
To configure the object view of records, you use the screen builder. The screen builder is available to administrators with the appropriate permissions.
- Click an object, such as Software.
- Click a record.
- Click the Actions menu

Organize the information that is displayed into groups so that you can easily find the information that you need. For example, you might want to create general, purchasing information, and audit information groups for asset records so that you can group the related information into separate sections. |

You can enter the URL of an external website such as If you add a link to an external website for an asset record, the link is displayed on the Information page of all of the asset records. You can also use a variable to create a custom URL for each record. In this example, the serial number of the asset is used to create the URL: https://www.<domain>.com/exampleaction?{{serial_number}}

Depending on the user’s role you can specify whether a field is mandatory or read-only or whether to show fields that don’t contain values. You can also add rules that determine when a field is hidden or shown. |
