To provide users with the information that they need to complete their tasks, you can configure the tab settings for object records for each user role.
The benefits are:
- The usability experience is enhanced because employees see only the information that they need to see and in the order that they need to see it.
- The security of the product is enhanced because you can configure for each role the information that users can see and the information that users can modify.
Note
For the Stockroom Accessory object, you can use the screen builder to view record information, but you can't modify the record or add new tabs.
You can also use the copy role settings feature to get a head start when you modify the tabs for roles or when you create tabs for new roles. You can use a role that you created like a template to copy the tab settings to a new role. Then, you can modify the tab settings for the new role.
Accessing the screen builder
To configure the view settings for an object's records, you use the screen builder. Users must have at least customization permissions for the object to change the settings.
- Click an object, such as Software.
- Click a record.
- In the sidebar, click the Actions menu .
- Click Screen Builder .
