Archiving fields

If a field doesn't provide information that is useful to your organization, you can archive the field.   

1. Click Configuration > Data Model > Field Configuration. 
2. Select an object or custom object from the objects list.
3. Click the field that you want to archive.
4. Click the Dependencies tab.
5. Click Load Relations.
6. Choose one of the following options:
   • If no blockers or warnings are detected go to Step 7.
   • If only warnings are detected, take a screen capture of the Warnings tab so you know what you have to do to resolve the issues later. Alternatively, cancel the archive operation, resolve the warnings, and run the dependency checker again. Go to Step 7.  
   • If blockers are detected, you must open each blocker and resolve each issue. After you resolve all the blockers, go back to the Blockers tab in the dependency checker and click Refresh to verify that all the blockers have been resolved. Then, go to Step 7.
7. Click ARCHIVE and then click YES.

Result

The field is archived.

To verify, click Archive display settings and then click Archived. The field that you archived is displayed in the list of archived fields.
