Create a report that combines data from users and assets.
Instead of creating separate reports that show data only for a single object, you can create a single report that combines data from two objects such as users and assets which you can export and share with your colleagues. Let's say, you want to show more asset data, such as the asset status, serial number, and so on. In this case, you can create a cross-object users and assets report.
Note
At least, read permissions to Assets and Users are required.
Refining the data
To avoid overwhelming users with data, you can refine the information that is shown about users in the report.
You can
- Use search in the People list view to filter user records such as show users that are active.
- Use List View Preferences to reorder the user fields and to show or the hide user fields that are not relevant to your report. Alternatively, in People list view and in users and assets related view, you can right-click user column headers to hide them and and drag and drop user column headers to reposition them.
Procedure
- Click People.
- In the list view, create a search with the following filter:
Status = Active. - Expand Related Views, and then click Assets.
- You can complete the following actions to refine the asset data that is displayed and exported:
- Click the More actions
and select Hide to remove a column.
- Select an assets column and drag and drop it to another position.
- Click the More actions
- Click Export
to download the report.
Result
Figure 1: Shows the user data
Figure 2: Shows asset data
A list of the user and the associated asset data is displayed. To easily identify the data source, assets or users, (users) is appended to user fields and (assets) is appended to asset fields.
