You can use custom objects to extend the management of your software portfolio, enrich the data that is collected by other objects, and interwork with external APIs to complete actions.
Extend the management of your software portfolio
Typically, Oomnitza syncs with third-party APIs to load, monitor, and manage endpoints, infrastructure, networking, and user data and with SaaS identity providers and SaaS apps to monitor and manage software and SaaS subscriptions and usage.

And to upload the data, you can use Oomnitza's import feature, sync with a a custom integration that you created, or add records manually.

For example, you want to track security certificates to ensure that you don't forget to renew them. You create a custom object and add the fields that you need to record the information. To make it easy to access and manage the information, you can add the custom object to the main menu. You can then create searches, import and export records, and configure the layout of the records. And, you can use workflows, such as a workflow to notify you when a security certificate is due for renewal.
Enrich the data that is collected in records
You can also use custom objects to enrich the data that is collected by other objects.

For example, you might want to include in the records that are collected about your users the name of their department. You can use a custom object to mirror your organizational structure so that the information that you need to add can be selected from a dependent dropdown list of departments and subdepartments.
Tip
You can also use custom objects to create fields in surveys and request offerings to make it easier for survey recipients to provide information, or request endpoints, such as computers, or software, or accessories.
Interact with webhooks to complete actions

You can use custom objects to listen to webhook messages and complete actions such as running a workflow when a webhook message is received. For example, when a user creates a ticket for offboarding an employee, a webhook is triggered. The webhook sends the ticket event and data information to a custom object which is configured to listen to the webhook. This, in turn triggers the offboarding workflow. And, when the workflow completes, the ticket is updated.
