Create charts to gain visibility of the versions of software that are installed on assets and to share information with your colleagues.
You want to create the following charts:
- A chart that shows the software that was installed on assets today.
- A chart that shows the support contracts that are about to expire.
Showing the software that was installed on assets today
Creating a search
- Click Configuration.
- Click Data Model > Objects.
- Search for the Software Asset object.
- Click the value in the Total Number of records column.
- Create the following search:
Creation Date is Today. - Save the search as a public search.
Creating the dashboard
- Click Dashboard and open a dashboard.
- Click Add widget.
- Click Bar chart
.
- Make your changes. Ensure that you select:
- Software Asset as the object
- The search that you created.
- Total as the calculation type for the Y-axis.
- Save your changes.
Result
The chart is rendered showing the software that was added to Oomnitza. Hover the mouse over a bar to see the name of the software, the software version, and the number of assets that the software was installed on. Click a bar to show the record in list view.
Showing end of life dates for software support
Before you start
Complete these tasks:
- Add a field such as an End of Support date field. See Adding fields to the software version's list view.
- Create a search to find records that will expire within a week.
Creating a search
- Click Configuration.
- Click Data Model > Field Configuration.
- Search for the Software Version object.
- Click the value in the Total Number of records column.
- Create the following search:
Out of Support This... Week, or Month or Quarter, or Year. - Save the search as a public search.
Creating the dashboard
- Click Dashboard and open a dashboard.
- Click Add widget.
- Click Bar chart
.
- Make your changes. Ensure that you select:
- Software Version as the object
- The search that you created.
- Total as the calculation type for the Y-axis.
- Save your changes.
