The Asset Overview package efficiently gathers and presents asset information, streamlining your IT estate management. It uses saved searches to collect asset data, displaying it on an intuitive dashboard. Key features include:

Dynamic dashboard: Provides you with a comprehensive view of your IT assets ensuring you have a complete understanding of your asset landscape.

Data Model objects and workflows: Introduces a new 'Count Over Time' object to track asset data chronologically. This feature uses workflows to record metrics such as Total Endpoint Count, Total Laptop Count, and Total Mobile Device Count, which are then visualized on the dashboards.

Saved searches: These saved searches identify a variety of endpoints and are used to inform the data that is displayed in the dashboard.
Apply the package

Click Configuration > Store.

Locate the package and click Apply.

Click Yes to apply the package.
Result
The package is added to the list of packages in Configuration > Migrations > Packages.

The components of the package are as follows:
Asset Overview dashboard and widgets
From the Dashboard menu, select Asset Overview.
Critical information about your assets is surfaced in charts which provide you with actionable insights.
Total Endpoints. The total number of managed by your organization.
Endpoints by Manufacturer and Type. The total number of assets in the organization grouped by manufacturer and technology type.
Laptops by OS, manufacturer, and model. Laptops grouped by OS, Manufacturer, and Model.
Mobile Devices by OS, manufacturer, and model. Mobile phones and tablets grouped by OS, Manufacturer, and Model.
Endpoints by status. Total number of assets grouped by technology status.
Endpoints by location. Total number of assets grouped by Location.
Inventory by location. Assets with the technology status of Inventory, grouped by Location.
Total Endpoints Over Time. Uses the Count over Time object to get the total endpoints captured over 12 weeks.
Total Laptops Over Time. Uses the Count over Time object to get the total number of laptops captured in the last 10 weeks.
Total Mobile Devices Over Time. Uses the Count over Time object to get the total number of mobile devices captured in the last 10 weeks.
Data model objects and fields
Two new objects are included in the package to retrieve endpoints captured over a specific period.
Click Configuration > Data Model > Field Configuration and select Count Over Time or System Metric from the list of objects.
Count Over Time object. It is used to capture the total count of assets over a specific period and has the following fields:

System Metric object. It is used to populate the dropdown values that display in the Count Metric field in the Count Over Time object. It has three records:

Saved Searches
Preconfigured saved searches are embedded in the Assets and Count Over Time page. They are used to generate the data that is displayed in the charts. They are designed to facilitate quick and efficient views of various asset types. The information displayed in the charts is directly influenced by the parameters of the saved searches.
Go to the Assets and Count Over Time page to review the search. Alternatively, go to the Dashboard, and click Configure widget, scroll down to the saved search, and click the link to view. You can also click a segment to drill down and view the saved search that was used to generate data.

Workflows
To review the workflows, click Configuration > Workflows and search for [Calc].
The following workflows were added:
[Calc] Total Endpoint Count over Time. Retrieves the total asset count and sends the data to the Count Over Time object.
[Calc] Total Laptop Count Over Time. Retrieves assets with the Technology Type Laptop and sends the data to the Count Over Time object.
[Calc] Total Mobile Device Count Over Time. Retrieves mobile devices with the Technology Type Mobile Phone and sends the data to the supplied Count Over Time object.
