Use stacked bar charts to compare categories of data, such as unencrypted devices by location, with the ability to break down and compare the parts to the whole.
Mock-up of stacked bar chart
For example, in a stacked chart, the unencrypted devices in a location can be broken down into segments that show the names of users who have an unencrypted device in a specific location.
Procedure
- From the menu, click Dashboards.
- Click Add Widget.
- Select Stacked bar chart
as the chart type.
- Enter the chart name.
- Choose who can view the chart. By default, the chart is visible to all users who have dashboard privileges.
- Select Allow table view. When selected, users can switch from chart to table view.
Data source and Measurement y-axis
- From the Object list, select a module such as Assets.
- Select an object or a saved search to add data to the chart.
- Enter the name of the label that you want to show on the y-axis.
- From the Calculation type list, choose an option.

Let's say you want to create a stacked bar chart that shows the number of unencrypted devices on the y-axis, the location on the x-axis, and you want to break down each column by the name of the user that has an unencrypted device. In this scenario, you select Assigned to as the field.
- In the Empty value title field, enter the name of the label that you want to show when no data is available.

For stacked bar charts, you add a right-sidebar that shows additional information about the chart. Let's say, you create a stacked bar chart for assets by location. And, you want to have a breakdown of the assets that are shown by status.
In the Decomposition section on the Widget Configuration field, you select Status as the Name.
